Serving in Nicaragua: Life Is About People

Life is about other people. Serve others and love others just like Jesus did.

Earlier this month, I went on a short-term mission trip to Nicaragua and served in the rural side of Tipitapa. Although it was one week, it was a very full one. I'm still trying to process that "yupp that just happened and you just witnessed that." I don't want to be left unchanged by the community that I got a chance to be a part of.

Although I didn't take my DSLR camera, I still captured some memories with the ever a so handy point and shoot camera. I hope when you view these photos, you'll have a sense of the people there. And most of all, I hope you'll too realize that people are important, people are valuable, and we must be for them.

These kids LOVE coloring. I went through at least 2 coloring books in the 1 hour I was watching them. Some of the kids would hide their coloring pages and come back for more. Oh how sweet coloring was to them that they wanted more and more.

The School here in Tipitapa, Nicaragua. We came to play with them during recess time and boy do they love bubbles.

Some of these women never heard the gospel - that there really is God out there who loves them so deeply...many of these women were overcome with emotion.

We went to the Dump on day 2. People go here to find recyclable goods to make some money. Unfortunately most of the stuff already went through the recycle process in Managua, so these people hopelessly dig through the scraps and dirt to find something.

One of these you can't tell through these photos was the immense amount of flies there were. There were so. many. files. I could've sworn that the air was black due to the flies.

Riding a boat and looking at many, many islands. Apparently you can rent some for as low as 80 dollars a day.
